Protection and climate
The bows travel in the 9012 bow tube, which holds two violin bows and is fixed to the case with a set of two rubber bands, one of them larger for the wider end. Bought on its own, the 9012 is empty inside; velvet sleeves for single bows are offered as the 9014.
With bows, length matters, as fine bows are usually a little longer than simple ones.
The bow responds to humidity too: on our violin bows, damper air makes the hair heavier by up to around 1 g.
