Sound and physics
Wittner makes the ULTRA tailpieces from a Hi-Tec composite and describes them as ULTRA stable and ULTRA light. The strings rest on rounded bearing points that treat them gently and keep them from slipping. The ULTRA line carries four integrated fine tuners; the ULTRA-CLASSIC line in the classic shape takes all clip-on Wittner fine tuners for its instrument, with the full adjustment range on the English model.
For the double bass Wittner supplies a stainless steel tailgut with a 340 millimetre cable length and a 4 millimetre thread diameter.
