Bass Endpin, Rosewood, with Cork Insert, 4S-6163
4S-6163
Double bass endpin with a rosewood sleeve.
- The endpin carries the instrument and passes vibration to the floor. Length and angle determine your playing posture and should be set properly once.
- Tighten the endpin screw only as far as it needs to hold. Overtightening widens the endpin socket.
- An endpin rubber protects the floor and the tip; as a wearing part it is renewed once it becomes hard or cracked.

Features
- For double bass
- Sleeve in rosewood
In practice
- An endpin consists of the turned sleeve, here in wood, and the rod that passes through the sleeve into the body and down to the floor. A metal ring with a locking screw on the sleeve clamps the rod at the chosen length
- The rod influences the sound. In our workshop experience: the lighter and harder the material, titanium for instance, the brighter the instrument sounds. The standard is the steel rod
- The tip is sharp so that the instrument stands on the floor with as little contact area as possible. In the case an endpin rubber therefore always belongs on the tip, otherwise the case bottom suffers
- On smooth floors an endpin rest with a socket or an anchor gives additional grip.
Sound and physics
The double bass endpin, too, consists of a turned barrel and a rod clamped at the chosen length by a screw on the barrel. Our bass barrels are made for 10 millimetre rods and lined with cork inside; the steel replacement rod measures 46 centimetres. The 4S-6162 and 4S-6169 have an ebony barrel, the 4S-6169 with brass ring and brass screw in addition, and the 4S-6163 a rosewood barrel. GÖTZ is stamped on the large square screw 4S-6147 of our original endpins; the brass screws stay plain. Our original double bass endpins are made 100 per cent in Germany.
Our experience
Our experience: the knurled screws fit only the Götz endpins made in Germany, and you can recognise an original by the GÖTZ stamp.
When another model suits you better
If you only want to renew the rod, choose the steel replacement rod 4S-6163S; if you would like a new barrel and rod, choose the 4S-6162, 4S-6163 or 4S-6169 endpins.
